New Social Security Scam

Most recently, someone I know applied for social security benefits. Within a few weeks she received an email that looks exactly like this:

Social Security Administration

I searched for who or which organization owns the number 866-327-0661. All searches pointed to a scam, and that when you call the number, they attempt to gather information from you in order to steal either your social security benefits or your identity.

In the end, I decided to report and forward the email to report.scam@ssa.gov.

I hope this post helps anyone who may be facing the same thing.
